Larry Fullerton Named in 100 Most Creative People

in Business for 2010

Huntsville, Ala., May 27, 2010. Correlated Magnetics Research LLC (CMR) announced today that Larry Fullerton, Founder, CEO, and Chief Scientist has been selected as one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business for 2010 (full article).

This honor is given to the most creative visionaries in business today. “I am both surprised and honored to be included with so many outstanding, creative people such as James Cameron and Apple’s Eddy Cue,” says Fullerton. The list of 100 creative people spans entertainment to medicine to technology to social enterprise. From Google to Gaga, Apple to architecture, Facebook to fashion, Fast Company counts down the most influential and surprising executives, artists, and impresarios crafting our culture – and our future.

“The selections we’ve made reflect the breadth of new ideas and new pursuits at play in our business landscape,” Editor Robert Safian said. They are people like cover subject Soraya Darabi, who dragged The New York Times into the age of social media; Patrick Awuah, who founded Ashesi University in Ghana; Franklin Leonard of Universal Pictures, whose Black List has spawned multiple Oscars; and White House CTO Beth Simone Noveck, who is bringing transparency into government.

According to Fast Company, they look for “dazzling thinkers” to honor with this award. With more than 100 patents for technologies, such as radio pulse and ground sonar, Fullerton certainly fits that criterion. His latest invention, correlated magnetics, resulted from designing toys for his grandchildren. Fullerton found that by programming magnets he could make a self-assembling toy. Using methods similar to his coding of radio signals, magnetic characteristics could be controlled with precision, producing magnets that perform an amazing array of behaviors – including hovering – that go far beyond simple attract and repel. According to Correlated Magnetics COO Mark Roberts, “Larry’s inventions will change the playing field for those companies that have the vision to be early-adopters in their industries.”

Compared to Thomas Edison by countless national newspapers and magazines, Fullerton’s creativity has led to innovations in a very diverse set of industries. He has been the recipient of patents in the fields of magnetic, ultra wideband technology, impulse radio technology, velocity measurement, communications and geophysics. Fullerton has won numerous awards for his inventions, including the HOBY Inspiration Award and the Aviation Week & Space Technology Laureate Award. He is a Senior Member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and has founded numerous companies based on his technological achievements.

Correlated Magnetics Research was founded in June 2008 to pursue research and development activities in the field of correlated magnetic structures and the licensing of programmable magnet technology. CMR has over 70 issued and pending patents. For more information about CMR, visit www.correlatedmagnetics.com.
